OrteliusOverall, how was your trip?
Highlights: 7 species of penguins, wale watching, information given in the lectures, food on board. The people were nice and many charing also pictures and videos. The weather surprised us with lots of sunshine and one hurricane - the Drake was calm and smooth. A magical moment was a wale appearing right next to the zodiac and staying a while to be filmed.
In one sentence, what did you think of Antarctica? Did it live up to your expectations?
It was an incredible journey for me personally. The experience beyond my expectations (which were fully met) made the trip outstanding.
Would you visit again?
Maybe
How was the service that Swoop provided?
I liked the service that Swoop provided - calling back, answering all questions I had, surprising with a present and overall contact to the specialists. The website was very appealing to me and better than any other website I encountered. This is the key, why I contacted Swoop and started to chat personally about my thoughts and questions. After decisions and bookings were made, the accounting staff was a bit confused with the payments to be made (currency errors).

You chose a/an Falklands, South Georgia & Antarctic Adventure experience. How was that experience?
It was the right choice because you would miss out on uniquely spots that are on the same level as the antarctic peninsula. Some people made this journey after they had been to Antarctica already... That says it all! Indeed, South Georgia might be more exciting than Antarctica! Falklands are ok to see. In my view the places visited are in a perfect sequence (Falklands, S. Georgia and then Antarctica). The excitement gets higher with each place.
If Swoop arranged some of your travel before/after your voyage. How did we do?
I arranged travel before and after on my own. But at the time of doing it I didn't think of using the service from Swoop. It was just not on my radar or popped into my eyes. Maybe this service should be made more visible?
How were your experiences on the zodiac excursions and shore landings?
The expedition staff had different zodiac driving skills but also showed their different personalities in driving the boats. Once passengers found out, a selection started to be always with the favorite one. Since all people were waiting in one or two lines this could be arranged indeed flexible. The drawback is the waiting lines in general. People could stand in front of the doors half an hour earlier, if they wanted to be first. That means, you need to be there if you also wanted to be ahead of everyone else once.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Don't go with passenger ships above 120 people. Maximize land time by choosing a ship that carries around 100 passengers! Take lots of memory cards with you (5x64GB) and a USB stick to share and save pics and videos from other guests (on local computer).
