HondiusWhat was your most memorable moment?
Sailing through the Lemaier Channel with a huge iceberg in the middle. Several other ships had to turn around but we successfully navigated the channel and were rewarded with a breathtaking experience in flow ice and bergs

Tell us about the Hondius
We loved the accommodations; our room was fabulous, the ship is beautiful and well run. On our last zodiac cruise the chef (?) went around to all the zodiacs w/hot cider and whiskey...what a treat!! We also loved the out door BBQ, We found the lack of clocks and/or time around the ship inconvenient. They ran a tight ship; everything done on time so we we late to several of the kayak meeting and talks because of it. Would love to have had the map on our TV showing ship position be an actual map instead of just shapes.
Tell us about the Kayaking
Loved the kayaking; well worth the cost. All equipment was supplied and the process was easy peasy.
Tell us about the expedition team
Knowledgeable and friendly...we loved them all!
Tell us about the wildlife
Not enough time spent w/the penguins but we loved seeing the various species. Very disappointed that when whales came along side the ship the captain did not make an announcement as promised. We only learned about them at the end of trip slide show.
Tell us about Zodiac excursions
Loved cruising but again, not enough time on shore because of the loading process.
Something Else?
The polar plunge was fun.
Do you have any tips or advice for other people planning a trip to Antarctica?
Talk to people who have been. Bring a bigger lens (over 200 mm) than recommended; we really weren't able to get as close to the wildlife as hoped. We appreciate that this is for the protection of the animals and are grateful the expedition team takes this seriously Don't over pack; the ship is enjoyably casual. Plan on a few days before and after in Ushuaia because you never know what could happen. Our ship was delayed getting back for about 10 hours for a search and rescue operation and most people missed connections. We had extra days in port so no worries.
Has your experience changed your perspective in any way?
The experience expanded my appreciation for this world. I still feel full of awe when I recall the trip. I expect I will carry this feeling the rest of my life. It's also made us want to see more.
Do you have any recommendations or feedback for the Swoop team?
Need a more specific "What to Pack" list for each ship. Otherwise, you all are WONDERFUL! Thank you for helping arrange the trip of a lifetime.
