Why we like this ship

  • 70% of the staterooms have private balconies. All cabins are exterior, enabling you to enjoy the spectacular Antarctic views
  • Two jacuzzis and an onboard sauna allow you to warm up in style after a chilly day out exploring on foot and by zodiac
  • Safe navigation of challenging polar waters - top ice class 1A/PC6 rating
  • Advanced "clean ship" engines with significantly lower emissions than traditional expedition vessels
  • X-Bow® Infinity technology and zero speed stabilisers on a purpose-built expedition ship improves your comfort in rough waters
  • Optional activities include kayaking, snowshoeing and camping for active travellers

We think it's worth noting

  • The small outdoor pool isn't actually used during Antarctic sailings

I sailed on Ocean Albatros's sister ship in December 2022 and loved the unique experience of soaking up the jaw-dropping Antarctic views from the comfort of the on deck jacuzzis.

Excellent cabin and crew. Food got repetitive but I guess to be expected.

Ship is a modern and comfortable vessel. Cabin was excellent. Food was sound - breakfast and lunch were buffets - however, lunches, in particular, being a buffet style was a little underwhelming as the nature of buffets leans to food being overcooked (under heat lamps), bulk portions prepared, etc. Dinner was excellent as an a la carte table service. The ship allows enhanced access to Antarctica that a larger cruise ship could not provide. The Ocean Albatros was just the right size to allow interaction with other travelers. I didn't imagine meeting as many great people as I did. Once again it was a life experience. Read the full review

The boat was very nice. Just the right size for what we were doing. My single cabin was good for me. Not super big but still comfortable. The food was typically good. The dinners were probably the best meal of the day. I'm sure I put on a few pounds. I really liked the boat. Read the full review
